This role will be responsible for designing and developing a full range of print and web materials to the Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Executive Leadership, senior management and OCIO staff in a highly visible, fast-paced, time-sensitive, IT-driven environment.

Specific responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • The candidate shall design, create and graphically enhance time-sensitive, Section 508-compliant, communication deliverables including, but not limited to, brochures, flyers, photographs, icons, animations, posters, newsletters, correspondence, press releases, briefings, letterhead, reports, white papers, documents, forms, surveys, testimonies, stage props, costumes, invitations, product catalogs, SharePoint content, website content, social media content, video, multi-media and other communication deliverables.
  • The candidate shall manage the design layout, color, format, aesthetic quality, objectives, vision and concepts for all communication deliverables.
  • The candidate shall convert raw content and concepts into finished Section 508 compliant, electronic and print ready visual art files.
  • The candidate shall provide photography and videography support to record and capture imagery for electronic, print-ready and visual graphical communication deliverables.
  • The candidate shall create, maintain and manage electronic communication files utilizing SharePoint, client Share Drives and other project management tools to monitor and track graphic design, photography and videography projects, deliverables, records, photographs, data and activities.
  • Provide internal support to GFI's marketing and communications materials and website

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must either possess an active Suitability clearance or be clearable
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, time-sensitive environment
  • Proficient knowledge of the most current and best industry-standard, graphic design and visual art software, including but not limited to, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Drupel, Visio, Edraw Max, Flickr, Google, Office-365, JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience planning and directing a team of graphic designers
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Creative and analytical thinking skills
  • Excellent writing and conceptual skills
  • Strong oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with fellow Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Experience with IT communications, a plus
  • Government experience, a plus
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have an online portfolio
